I would like to start this month of by saying a big well done to Nana Kondratowicz in the infant class and Eli Phillips in the junior class for becoming February’s student of the month. Both have worked extremely hard with helping the lower belts with their training and also working hard on their own training with some amazing moves. I can see that they have come a long way in the last year. Keep up the good work. I would like to also add in the second junior class a big well done to Carter Claret he has come up from the infant class and being one of the smallest in the class shows amazing spirt and tries his best every lesson.
This month I would to say a big welcome to Harry and George Turner. The two boys have been waiting to join for a long time now and having some friends in the class already. They couldn’t wait to jump on the mat. I have known their mum since I was a baby and has seen me rise up the ranks in Ishin Ryu.
This month all the infant classes and junior classes have been getting them self’s ready with loads of grappling and basic ground moves and hold downs. The infants have been learning the basics from how to fall on the floor and move around when someone is grappling with you. This is building up the students mind for grappling and also working on their body fitness and conditioning, making them stronger and faster.
Grappling on the floor and moving around is like learning to walk again its hard work but once you get it, it becomes second nature.
We have been doing the same with the junior students but working more on movement and how to get their partner in to different locks and holds. The high grades have been putting each other in to arm locks and chokes and the lower grades working on basic hold downs and escapes. I have to say that it is coming together nicely.
All three classes have been working towards the first grading’s of the year witch will be held in March. Everyone is very excited and can’t wait to work for their new belts.
The teenager have been going over some of the basic moves from white belt and also working on some of our throws from Hip throw, Body drop and major outta reap. I would like to say how well they are all working and putting in 100% in to training and showing true Ishin Ryu Fighting spirit. To finish off most lessons we finish with some fitness and ground work to keep the students on top form ready for the up and coming championships in May.
I would like to tell all parents that gradings will be on the second lesson in March so make sure you hand in all your admin before the grading day so we can get everything sorted ready for the grading and presentations.
Next month I am looking forward to the grading’s. With all the students working extremely hard and putting in so much training it will be really good to see.
