A big Junior class getting ready to start their lesson.

A big Junior class getting ready to start their lesson.

I would like to start this month off by saying a big well done to our student of the months for the dojo. Michal Rajputty in the infant class has been outstanding, working hard each lesson and has progressed so much since his first session. In the junior class Ethan Esteban has been awarded this April’s student of the month because his attitude to training.

Week in and week out he puts 100% in to everything he does and also helping the younger students in the class. Being one of the high grades in the class I think he knows he has the lower belts looking up to him and it shows in his behaviour. In the last junior class me and sensei Del both agree that Reece Simpson should be this month’s student of the month as he is an amazing martial artist not only does he train on a Monday at Bushey but he also helps Sensei Tom on a Friday too.

Not many people would do that and I am so proud and thankful for his help. He has been training with Ishin Ryu from a young age in the infant class and he is growing up in to an amazing young man.

I would like to say a big well done to all the student of the months this month. They have worked really hard to achieve this belt and it gets harder each month to pick as all the students work so hard.

This month has been an outstanding month for the Bushey Monday class, with the grades behind us and the grappling championships on their way it’s been so much fun with the kid’s classes.
The infant class have been building up and working on their throws and breakfalls ready for the championships in May. With the kids learning how to full on their side and slapping the mat hard were stopping them from getting hurt.

It has been fun making loads of noise in the dojo and me and sensei Del have been making it fun for the kids putting the moves in to fun easy moves, keeping them on their toes at all times. Sensei Del has also been working on their fitness making sure they can do a good clean press up and burpee and I have to say everyone loves doing fitness they can’t get enough of it.

To finish off this month we have been working on our standing up grappling with the kids trying to get them use to throwing each other to the floor and pinning them to the ground. The kids have been finding it a little difficult but with loads of practice and everyone working hard they will be more than ready for the championships in May.

In both the junior classes they have also been getting ready for the Championships in May, with loads of the students entered last year this year they are looking to win the gold again. So we have been showing the students some quick fast throws to throw and take down their partner to the floor. Timing plays a big part in this as the person is not going to stand there and let you throw them. And it has been working really well with the classes he have had the crash mat out as some of the throws can hurt if you don’t land right.

Also this month I would like to welcome some new students to the first and second junior classes. I know within the first lesson they have already made loads of friends already. It is so nice to have a club that welcomes everyone to it and helps them. I look forward to working with you and perfecting your Ju Jitsu.

To finish off this month we have been finishing the class off with rounds of standing up grappling and getting everyone grappling with each other and it helps the lower grades mixing in with the high grades to see what they know and learn from them as well.

The grappling has been so much fun and myself and sensei Del have been getting stuck in with the students and they are getting really strong I am having to start working hard to try and beat them.

This has been an outstanding month for the Bushey club and I look forward to next month’s fun and games with loads of fun getting ready for this year’s championships.

Please remember that we are handing out competition letters to all the children for this year children’s grappling championships. This event will be held on Sunday 22nd May 2016. The cut-off date to get the letter in will be Monday 9th May 2016.  Please make sure you hand it in and paid for so your child has a place. There is a limited number of places and once its full we can’t take any more.

Please visit our website www.ishinryu.com as much as possible as I submit reports every month about the students training during the previous month. This is a great opportunity to see if you have been mentioned or appear in a photo.

We also have the new calendar page where you can have a look at upcoming events so you can plan ahead. You can also leave feedback on each of the reports or comment on your son/daughters club and share them to your Facebook pages.

If you have any questions or you are unsure of anything, please catch me at the club where I will be happy to help!

If you are on Facebook, please can you send me and Kevin Pell a friend request so if we need to pass on information quickly I can contact you, and when the reports go up I can share it to your Facebook page so you get it straight away.

Many thanks,
