To start off the month I would like to say a big well done to the student of the months for the Bushey Monday class. In the infant class Alec Apikian has been working really hard and putting 100% in to his training. With Alec being one of the high grades he is always willing to help others in the class and likes being used as a helper with sensei Del to show moves.
In the junior class Lucy Apikian has relaxed more after moving up from the infant class. This can be very scary and sometimes hard but Lucy has shown true Ishin Ryu spirit and has been a model student. In the second junior class I would like to say a big well done to Natalia Wysocki. Natalia has been training Jiu Jitsu for 3 months now and has taken to it like duck to water, putting everything in to her training and even turning up to training with a broken finger – that is dedication.
Well done to all our student of the months and I look forward to seeing who will be student of the month for August. Keep training hard boys and girls.
What an action packed month the Bushey dojo has had! With the children’s grading’s in full swing it has been a really good month for the club. Me and sensei Del have been testing the students this month on throwing and grappling with basic history and fitness. The infant class have had loads of fun this month learning some new throws and going over some of the basic holds everyone has worked so well together. The grading for the infant class was one to remember with all the kids working so hard with rounds of grappling from kneeing and also standing it was amazing to see all the kids hard work put in to action. The senior grades in the class had to do extra fitness and grappling in front of the whole class to add a little pressure to make sure they can’t cheat. The kids by the end of the lesson were a lovely shade of red and looked like they had jumped in to a pool with their gi on.
In both junior classes the kids have been learning the same throws as the infant class and putting it in to practice from a punch instead of just a grab. The kid’s throws have been amazing to watch and you can tell that everyone has been working hard and putting 100% in to their training. Some of the senior grades going for brown belt and brown black belt have had to do a little essay on the history of Ishin Ryu Jiu Jitsu and what they like about Jiu Jitsu. I have to say that we have had some amazing essays and all their parents have said that they done it them self’s with little help from mum and dad.
With all the grading’s for the kids out of the way the club has been working more team games and grappling pulling and pushing each other around for different throws and take downs. The kids have loved the fitness challenges and the competition from the students is amazing everyone wants to win. The teenager class have been undergoing their first grading’s of the year with loads of the juniors moving up to the teenager class this has been a big eye opener to them. The teenager grading’s a lot different to the infant and junior grading’s as the teenagers are learning the same as the adult Jiu Jitsu. I would like to say a big well done to all the teenagers that graded it was very hard and they put 100% in to their grading with loads of sweat and hurts after they know that they worked hard for their belt.
With the summer holidays at the end of the month, please remember that the club is still running throughout the summer holidays. If you are going away on holiday have a lovely time and look forward to seeing you when you come back.
