Congratulations to Rubin Amin from the Infants, Jamie Remington from the first Junior group and Oliver Kaye from the second Junior group receiving Student of the Month for December 2014.
All have worked really hard to achieve this award.
During December, the young Junior students at the Bushey Monday Ju Jitsu club worked on perfecting their press-ups. The youngest group of the Juniors being the Infant class can be comical at times when watching them perform press-ups to the best of their ability; usually resulting in them doing head nods or pelvic trusts, neither do justice in trying to achieve the press-up. I decided to do some static holds, in the plank position and in the fully raised position mixed up with a few sets of full press-ups, really trying to exercise those muscle groups.
The two other Junior groups practiced the same format but are able to do extra as their muscle groups have developed that much more. All three classes were given homework to try and practice their press-ups. Each day they would have to perform as many press-ups as they could in one run and record it to bring in the following week. As the days go on, the muscles would slowly get used to the action and help aid in strengthen those muscle groups.
Belt tying was also on the agenda for December. A few students are quite confident in this technique but a few still need a little more practice.
Near the ends of the lessons we had some Ne-wasa (Ground grappling) and Randori (Standing Grappling) The Infant class started off with Ne-wasa, I made it a little more exciting by getting them to sit back to back and some times with their eyes closed and sometimes with them sitting on their hands; thus working on their reaction times. I caught a few of them out with their eyes open trying to get that extra edge but exciting either way.
On Monday 1st December, Teenagers at the Bushey Grove Ju Jitsu club attempted their gradings. The class started as normal with line up and breakfalls before the teenagers broke off into their groups to be accessed on their belts. As the grading progressed they were working extremely hard and showed a lot of grit and determination to try achieve their belts. With multiple rounds of fitness tied in with syllabus techniques they were all a little tired but showed some great Ishin Ryu spirit.
Well done Guys.
I would like to say congratulations to the following students that successfully passed their Teenager gradings: Kristian & Lauren Parr, Daniel Miller, Sanjef Vigneswaran passing their 8th Kyu (White) Gabriella Codrington, Harshul Jolly, Isaac Bitelli passing their 6th Kyu (Orange) Gabriel Van Wyk, Tosin Oparinde, Kye Cunningham passing their 5th Kyu (Green) Jessica Marshall passing her 4th Kyu (Blue)
The adult classes were working hard as they had their gradings on Saturday 13th December. All adult students that are wishing to grade must travel to Honbu (Headquarters) to be assessed. We have also had regular visits from Sempai Lou Panteli who has been traveling up and down the country to get as much training in as possible.
The Adult gradings went fantastic and with a hundred per cent pass rate, we were set to welcome the festive period along.
I would like to say massive congratulations to the following students from the Bushey Grove Ju Jitsu club passing their Adult gradings: James Hawkey passing his 8th Kyu (White) Daniel Davis passing his 5th Kyu (Green). Well done guys.
As it was the last training night on Monday 15th December we decided to have fun by playing games. Each class played a variety of games and getting everyone laughing. The Adult class finished off by having a good grapple that let everyone go home smiling and a little sweaty.
Next month we are looking forward to celebrating our 25th Anniversary of Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu on the 10th January 2015, an event that will be very memorable as we have a hundred and eighty people and rising in attendance.
From everyone at Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and look forward to seeing you all back training on 5th January 2015.
