The first week of May there was no adult classes at Bushey Ju Jitsu club due to the Bank Holiday; we also have one at the end, which is not going to leave a lot of days left. The last one in May is going to be very busy as we have Sempai Tom Garvin attempting his Shodan. Sempai Tom will start on the Sunday and finish sometime on the Monday providing everything goes well. Good Luck to you Sempai, hopefully this time next month we should see a nice black belt around your waist. I will be on the grading panel alongside the other Yudansha which means that I will not be teaching on Monday 25th May. Luckily Sempai Lou Panteli will be running the children’s classes.
The second week of the month the adult classes had a nice warm-up with Sempai Tom before working on their grading techniques. Nice to see Scott Grossman back on the mat training, hopefully we should see him moving forward. Nick Rowan was training with Sempai Patrick Davis and going over his white and yellow, as he would like to double grade and if he can, “triple,” not something that many have done.
The third week of the month Nick Rowan and Scott Grossman had a really good technical lesson going over white, yellow and touching on orange belt. Nick is quite confident with his techniques and is working hard on his stamina and fitness outside of the club in preparation for next month’s grading. Scott was fine working alongside Nick as Scott got quite far when he was a teenager. We have no lesson next week as we have a Bank holiday, but hopefully most will train at Borehamwood or Aldenham Ju Jitsu club to continue their training.
On the 17th May 2015, we had the British Championships held in Thetford, Norfolk and young Daniel Davis entered into the adult knock down. Unfortunately Daniel did not quite make the top three but had some great fights and gained lots of experiences by doing so.
Next month we look forward to the adult gradings taking place on Saturday the 20th June, good luck to all, attempting their gradings!
