I would like to congratulate our Students of the Month – Nicholas Tsangrais and Tunbosun Oyedeji. They have shown great commitment to their training and have really got stuck in this month. Well done and keep up the good work. I would like to also say a warm welcome to Sarah Piplain and Norha Kahanna who have joined us this month. I hope you enjoy training with us.
I would like to start the report off this month by saying a huge well done to the infants class. They all performed brilliantly in the recent gradings and both myself and Sensei Tom are very proud if you all. The gradings started off with a normal warm up followed by their breakfalls and then by their techniques. The class had to perform different variations of a shoulder arm lock. Jack Baker really impressed us with his techniques.
Following this the class then had a question and answer session. This is where the students are asked questions on Ishin Ryu’s history and the basic terminology we use. We finished off the gradings with countless rounds of grappling and fitness test to get them a little hot and sweaty. By the end everybody looked exhausted but they still had a smile on their faces. We were happy to tell the whole of the infant class that they had passed. Well done to everyone. It was great grading!
The junior class also put on a good grading. They were an unstoppable force! We started off with a warm up then into rapid breakfalls; this was so we could get the blood pumping around their body a little faster. Following this we then moved into the grading techniques.
This was a breeze for everyone. The class had to show us four different shoulder arm locks, this is where you are being attacked in four different situations and you have to be able to defend yourself. It gives me great pleasure that everyone performed really well. Lastly we finished off with grappling and fitness just to make sure that they put a sweat on. Like all the other classes, they were over the moon when they heard that they passed. Well done to everyone who took part.
The teenager class have been training for their forthcoming gradings in December. I know it seems a long time away but the it is going to fly by. The class have been focusing on the orange belt syllabus which is a hard belt to learn. Callum Surge has been particularly switched on. He has been making sure that he has all his kit ready for the grading. Well done guys I can’t wait to see you grade.
Next month we will be going over some old syllabus just so we don’t get rusty on previous work. This is so we can keep techniques we haven’t done for a while fresh in the mind.
As it is that time of the year again, I know most of you will jet setting off and sitting in the sun all day. If you are going away I hope you have an amazing time and I will see you upon your return.
