I would like to start this month of by saying huge congratulations to two amazing students in the club. Sarah Piplani in the infant class and in the junior class a very talented martial artist Richie Lord. Both students have been working so well and I can’t fault their determination and dedication to training. Well done you two keep up the good work and hard training.
This month has been a tough one for all the students. With the championships on their way we have been working on loads of different moves to get someone to the floor and hold them or strangle them. With the junior class working more on locks and strangles the infant class have been working more on the throw and the hold down or pin.
The infant class have been working on different ways of throwing someone to the floor trying to trip or sweep the leg to get them to the floor. The kids have been doing amazing on this and watching everyone enjoying throwing each other puts a big smile on my face. Loads of the kids have already put their names down to enter the championships and everyone is so excited to take part. Jack Baker will be entering for a second time as last year he won silver and he will be aiming for gold this year.
Also in the junior class we have been doing the same work as the infant class but adding a little bit more excitement and some nice arm locks and strangles to the grappling. With the junior’s being able to strangle and lock arms and legs, we have been working on some lovely strangles from behind someone and also looking at using the Gi to strangle them as well.
With loads of children going different shades of red and purple I could tell they had loads of fun trying to pop each other’s heads off. The senior belts in the class blues and green black belts also trying to get arm locks from different angles and it’s been amazing to see Alex Law putting some amazing moves together in his stand up grappling.
To finish each lesson off with grappling and games the students have been worked so hard and by the end of each lesson leaving the dojo red faced and tired, it shows you how much fun we have been having when it comes to the end of the lesson and students still want to do press ups and still train. With great students and amazing support from all the mums and dads I would like to say a big thank you to everyone in the dojo and keep up the good Ishin Ryu family spirt.
Please remember that we are handing out competition letters to all the children for this year children’s grappling championships. This event will be held on Sunday 22nd May 2016. The cut-off date to get the letter in will be Friday 13th May 2016. Please make sure you hand it in and paid for so your child has a place. There are a limited number of places and once it’s full we can’t take any more.
Please visit our website www.ishinryu.com as much as possible as I submit reports every month about the students training during the previous month. This is a great opportunity to see if you have been mentioned or appear in a photo.
We also have the new calendar page where you can have a look at upcoming events so you can plan ahead. You can also leave feedback on each of the reports or comment on your son/daughters club and share them to your Facebook pages.
If you have any questions or you are unsure of anything, please catch me at the club where I will be happy to help!
If you are on Facebook, please can you send me and Kevin Pell a friend request so if we need to pass on information quickly I can contact you, and when the reports go up I can share it to your Facebook page so you get it straight away.
