Happy adults training hard together

Happy adults training hard together

What an amazing month it has been for the Bushey adult class. I would like to welcome Steven Carter. Steven has had his first month training with us and he is doing so well. Having never done any martial arts before he has picked up some of the basics already, from side breakfall and also learning some hold downs. He is doing great and the other adult students are looking after him as well.

This month the adults have been working on their ground holds. Learning the basic locks and holds on the floor building up the foundations of grappling. With loads of different locks, chokes, holds and escapes we have been keeping it really simple for the moment. With basic scarf hold and an arm lock the ladies have been having loads of fun with this.

We have then been putting the moves into practice with rounds of kneeing grappling and the class have been really enjoying this. They have made big improvements on this and it is good to see them thinking about the moves why the other person is trying to hold them down.

Finally, this month with loads of groundwork and grappling a big part of training this month we have started to work on our basic throw for white belt which is hip throw. This is one of the hardest throws to do but once you get the right technique you can throw anyone. Hema Joshi is the smallest one in the group and she can throw some of the biggest adults easy so it isn’t about size or strength.

I would like to say a big well done to all the adult students, they have been working really hard and have been making both classes on a Friday and a Monday this is true Ishin Ryu spirit and fantastic commitment. Keep it up everyone you have been working so hard.

This month has been really good for the adults with Steven Carter joining our group he has been a joy to train with and get to know.

Next month the class will be working more on throwing and getting their partner down to the floor and using the ground work in stand up grappling.

Even with the summer holidays in full swing the classes are still running as normal and all the way through summer holidays. Remember if you ever unsure about times of classes or days please ask the instructor or visit the website www.ishinryu.com and we will let you know.
