What a good month it has been at the Bushey Dojo. Not only have we had a fantastic month of training but we have also got new mats!!!! Yes, the long awaited mats finally turned up and they are excellent for training. I know I can’t wait until I get to train on them. I would like to say well done to our students of the month Akashan Joshi and Max Thomas
The students in Friday’s Infant class in Bushey have been working exceptionally hard as they prepare for their gradings. They have begun every lesson by practising their breakfalls and learning some of the basic history of the club. Following this we have started to perfect their technique for the escaping from the guard which will be the key to progressing to their next belt. The hold-downs which they have been learning are slowly but surely getting better and soon I bet they will be two top students! Well done boys and keep up the good work! Lastly I would like to say well done to Adrian Gashi who is our Student of the Month because of all the hard work that he puts in every lesson.
The junior class have also been training in order to be ready for the upcoming gradings. During the class we have been concentrating on their fitness, particularly whilst being thrown. This is due to the need for excellent stamina and mental strength to be able to keep getting back to your feet whilst being thrown repeatedly. Since the main techniques that will appear in the gradings are the guard escapes and Reclining Leg Throw this will be an essential asset. All of the instructors have been very impressed by the attitudes the students have been showing, especially William Ivory and Ryan Magromallis who have been training with great focus. We have also been taking part in some stand up grappling which the class has been enjoying a lot.
Both of these are excellent techniques for grappling and the children have been able to try them out in real grappling situations. I would like to say congratulations to William Ivory who is our Student of the Month for February. He has worked extremely hard over the whole month and very much earned this award.
Two of the students that are doing particularly well are Conan Li and Nathan Morris; they have both taken to the class very well and are both enjoying the class and doing very well. As we have just started on the white belt syllabus, the whole class is learning the same techniques. We started with the Hip Throw which has been going very well. Mia Slevin and Lisa Coats particularly stood out as doing very well and it’s great to see them both doing some amazing throws. One more ‘well done’ has to go to Aaron Palmer who is putting in 110% effort in every class. Keep up the good work everyone!!
Just to let everyone know the infant and junior gradings are to be held on the 13th February 2015. Presentation time will be the following week on the 20th February 2015. And I would like to take this time to wish everyone luck with there up and coming gradings. I know you will all do well.
