I would like to start this report off by saying a big welcome to the new Bushey Friday adult class. This has been an amazing month and we have been building up to this since January this year. The class is made up of three mums that watch their kids do Ju Jitsu and wanted to have a go.
Having done the charity family night where mums and dads can come on the mat with their kids, they wanted a little bit more. With the class at 1hour 30 minutes this is a perfect class for them once their little ones have finished.
The lovely ladies have been really committed to their training and haven’t missed a single lesson since starting. We have started them off with the basics how to fall and roll from standing and also some basic hold downs when on the floor. I have to say they take everything that is thrown at them and get on with it. This month the students have been learning palm heel strikes and also working on their grappling, trying to get each other down and use some of the basic holds that I have been showing them.
The class have also been working on basic fitness and building up from 5 press ups to now doing 10 of everything. It is amazing to see their fitness get better and they feel fitter in them self’s already.
Also this month we have been doing some self-defence moves as the women are very interested in looking after them self’s and have been asking me loads of questions about what would work and wouldn’t work.
With the internet playing a big part of peoples life’s and YouTube being the go to guide to know anything the women have watched some funny things and have asked do they work. So in the lesson we have been testing out what will work and won’t work and using myself as the test subject to see if the students can get me to the floor and defend them self’s agent a man.
The class is so friendly and everyone gets along so well it is a joy to teach this class and I look forward to Friday’s so much as they all have amazing stories to tell at the end of the lesson.
The adult class will be working on some wrist locks next move and also using the Kubaton. So watch this space for next month.
Even with the summer holidays coming up our classes are still running all the way through the summer. I look forward to seeing you all working hard.
