What a good start to the month, the sun is out and everyone is buzzing for training.
I would like to say a big well done to Amaya Lunavat for becoming student of the month for April. I know she has been trying so hard with training and when it comes to doing anything she always picks the biggest student in the class! Well done Amaya keep up the good work.
With the grappling championships around the Corner, I know all the kids want to go in and win gold so we have been focusing more on easy take downs and quick pins to hold their partner down. I have to say the students have been working really well. I know Charlie Bignell will be training hard after winning silver last year – I know he is looking for gold this time around.
With the Easter holidays going on and loads of people away on holiday, it is nice to see so many students still in the dojo training hard.We still have had good classes training hard for the championships and some amazing take downs and pins coming from the infants – they are really getting stuck in to the grappling and everyone is working so hard bringing home the gold for Bushey.
This month the class have been training none stop on their grappling skills and take downs we have been going over how to defend from people on top of you and how to escape. This takes a lot of energy moving around the mat with someone on top of you and everyone has been getting all hot and sweaty, it is an exercise in its self and the students can tell already. I know Jessica Garvin has been enjoying it she is always asking to do more fitness so with the grappling. We have been putting in different exercise to help build up their core strength and to help them move themselves around the mat more faster.
With everyone working so hard this month we have had a lot of stars been handed out for the students’ progress cards and earned themselves a nice Ishin Ryu medal so big well done to Artem Nazarkov keep up the good work.
Student of the month for April in the junior class is Louis De Jongh. He is a hard worker and I know that he finds something’s difficult but he never gives up and is always training hard each week. Well done Louis keep up the good work and keep training hard.
The juniors are coming in to their own now working on different throws, loads of locks and chokes to make their partners tap. I have seen some fast arm bars from Ioan Henry and Lauren Kelly, working really well together.
