Best Ever British Championship 2016

Best Ever British Championship 2016

I have decided to use this month’s report to congratulate all my students that entered into his years British Championship. It was an amazing day for all the students, and the best one that we have held yet. As we have finally gone more hi-tec with all the running of the championship we are saving so much time. And most importantly the parents do not have to wait for the weight divisions to be sorted.

It went so smoothly this year that the fights started within 20 minutes of them being weighed. The best part of all was that we finished on time, and by the time I finished packing all the equipment away I was home nice and early for the first time in six years.

Congratulations to all the infants for their amazing courage and determination throughout the morning. It was great to see the club gain two British champions and a bronze medallist. I was so impressed with the techniques that they showed and how respectful they were.

One student that really stood out for me was Izzi- Mae, who just missed out on her first bronze medal. I know she will be back next year to get herself on the podium. Well done to her brother Archie, who gained a bronze medal at his first ever junior championship.

It is always a brilliant atmosphere at the championships, with very supportive parents cheering their child on, the best part is when it comes to the presentations and the child’s name is called out. All you can hear is a massive cheer from the parents and friends, and a very happy student standing on the podium.

Championships is so much more then students fighting to become British champion. It is about giving your child confidence that if one day they are bullied or attacked they will be able to deal with the situation and not become a VICTIM. Having taught both my daughter and son since they were the age of four, I feel very confident that they would be able to control any situation in the correct manner, and make sure that the attacker regrets starting the fight or being a bully. Every child has the right to look after themselves; no one has the right to bully them. As long as they are taught to defend themselves & to be able to control the attacker it is SELF DEFENCE.

It was great to see their happy faces when we had the presentation photos at the end of both championships. Well done to all the juniors that took part, especially Ben Nafile who entered his first ever championship.

Now that the championship is over the students will be concentrating on getting ready for their next grading. As they had been practising their techniques for the championships well, it should be a walk in the park for them this time round. Just to let everyone know that your next grading will be Tuesday 5th July, with the presentation evening on Tuesday 12th July.

Information packs for this year’s summer camp will be going out to the clubs in the first week of June. As always there will be a limited amount of spaces, as I like to keep it to a small number of students. This is an amazing week for students to spend the whole week together learning so much Ju Jitsu and have lots of fun with each other.

Awesome fun ahead at this year’s summer camp

Awesome fun ahead at this year’s summer camp

As last year’s summer camp was a sell-out, I can confirm that next year’s summer camp will be from MONDAY 8TH AUGUST TO FRIDAY 12TH AUGUST 2016.

Please visit our website www.ishinryu.com as much as possible as I submit reports every month about the students training during the previous month. This is a great opportunity to see if you have been mentioned or appear in a photo.

We also have the new calendar page where you can have a look at upcoming events so you can plan ahead. You can also leave feedback on each of the reports or comment on your son/daughters club and share them to your Facebook pages.

If you have any questions or you are unsure of anything, please catch me at the club where I will be happy to help!

If you are on Facebook, please can you send me and Kevin Pell a friend request so if we need to pass on information quickly I can contact you, and when the reports go up I can share it to your Facebook page so you get it straight away.

Many thanks,
Trevor Steward Sensei
