All ready for a very busy day

All ready for a very busy day

Due to the overwhelming success of last year’s event Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu was invited back to take part in what was going to be a very busy and entertaining day. Since High Lodge opened back in 2005, every year they have celebrated the day with free admission to the forest with so many fun activities for everyone to take part in during the day.

The day always starts nice and early to set up the arena, gazebo and advertising material. All our clubs from Norfolk are invited to come along to enjoy all the activities that go on throughout the day.

The gates opened at 10am with people coming from all over Norfolk, Suffolk and as far as Hertfordshire.

We always had the best place, right in front of the main building as all the families arrived to see what was going on. My students were going to be kept busy throughout the day with demonstrations and taster session for all the children that wished to take part.

The first session started with a few very nervous children, within couple of minutes the mats were full with over 30 children in the session. We had to stop any more coming on as they were no more spaces for them. The ages ranged from as young as four, and a few a little bit younger.

It was a brilliant session with all the children having so much fun. We did team games, pad work, some throws and some self-defence to finish the session off. The time went so quick I was planning to do a 30 minute session which ended up being a 60 minute session.

With very happy children by the end of the second session, it was time to have a rest and some lunch before we started again in the afternoon with three more sessions planned. The weather was perfect much better than last year which was very hot. This year was sunny but with some cloud which took the heat out of the day. All the children that took part were given a free Ishin Ryu wrist band for taking part in the taster sessions.

After a really nice lunch it was time to get back onto the mats for some more sessions. Just like the morning session there were a lot of interest and many more children taking part in the sessions. It was great to see so many 4 year olds taking part, which is always good as they could be the next generation of our Ishin Ryu Students. There was a lot of interest after the session from parents wanting their children to start at my clubs in Thetford & Brandon.

It takes a lot of hard work and organising to promote events like this throughout the year. But it makes it all worthwhile when you teach so many wonderful children that have a great time experiencing Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu.

I would like to thank the following students for all their amazing help in making this day a great success for Ishin Ryu.

Archie Curtis Jordan Filippou, Cruz Filippou, Rafael Santos, George Somerset, and Kieran Steward.

Also I can’t thank enough all the parents that came along and not only supported their child, but talked to other parents with information about our clubs in Norfolk & Suffolk.
