I would like to start this month’s report by thanking all the students that took part in this year’s Carnival. Yet again it was an amazing day for Ishin Ryu and the club. It was a lovely sunny day, with so much to do. The students preformed a brilliant demo in front of a massive crowd. Ishin Ryu Mascot Leonardo was loved by so many children and enjoyed having his photo taken and making so many children happy.
Well done to Kian Hall who was awarded Student of the Month. Kian has worked brilliantly in all aspects of his training. He enjoyed it so much being at the front of the class when we begin with the traditional Dojo Kun. This works really well, because gives the students a sense of pride and achievement.
I always like to congratulate a student each month for their hard work which could be the slightest little achievement. This month it goes to Freya who has just joined the club. It is very scary to join a club on your own, especially when you are only 5 years old. She turns up every week with a great smile on her face and loves every minute of her lessons.
This month the students are getting ready to grade for their next belts. I can’t believe it is the second grading of 2015 already. They have been working on quick takedowns into many different hold-downs. This is to develop their skills in speed and to control their partner on the floor as quick as they can. It is great when you see a student demonstrate a takedown at speed with complete control.
Congratulations to Ashley Baker for all his hard work during the month. Ashley is a very keen student, and always works hard in the lessons. Ashley has been with the club for many years now, developing his skill in Ju Jitsu to a very high standard.
Welcome to new student Rueben to the club. He has settled in really well and especially loves it when it comes to takedown. I know he will love to enter into the championships next year. The juniors have been working hard on their techniques for the grading’s next month. They have also been working on different defences against grabs or pushes to the chest.
They had a taster of our finger takedown into arrest which they really loved. Well the person doing it did, not the person having it done to. I must admit there were so very funny faces being made when they were being controlled of the floor just by their finger.
Congratulations to Finley who was awarded a progress medal for his throwing techniques. It is always a great way to reward a student for all their hard work and dedication to their training. Well done to everyone for a great months training, see you all next month.
Just one final thing to let everyone know, this year’s SUMMER CAMP is from Monday 3rd August to Friday 7th August. There is a limited amount of spaces in both the infant and junior camp. The cut-off date is Saturday 7th July, due to medals and trophies that have to be ordered for the camp.
This is a great chance for your child to have lots of fun and Ju Jitsu Training for 5 hours a day over a week period. Letters and a booking form will be going out in the first week of June.
Well done to everyone at the club for all your amazing support and great training. See you all next month with some great photos from the carnival.
