I would like to start this month off by saying a big well done to Matthew Kutner in the infant class for becoming student of the month. Matthew has been working so hard and trying his best each lesson. Well done Mathew keep it up. In the junior class I would like to say a big well done to Michael Reilly he has been an amazing student helping out so many students and always on time to lesson he is an amazing student to have in class.
I would like to welcome everyone back to training I hope everyone has had a good rest and had a lovely Christmas and new year. This month has been an amazing month with loads of fun ground work with the kids, getting them use to rolling around on the floor when someone is trying to pin them down. The infant class have been learning to make space on the floor if they are being pinned down. Using different body parts to push and pull their partner on the floor. This has been a good exercise as you are working all the muscles and moving your own body every time.
The junior class have also been working on grappling but starting from the standing position, learning to throw and move their partner off balance it looks like they are dancing but it’s a good way to get your partner to the ground.
Both classes have been really good at this and have progressed so much in just a short space of time. I would like to also say a big well done to Luca Laza in the infant class who has been working on this with his dad and comes to show me at the start of every lesson. He also trains with Sensei Del on a Thursday and has been showing a big improvement. Also this month we have had some new starters to our classes I would like to welcome you all to our club and I look forward to teaching you all loads of amazing Ju Jitsu and getting to know you more.
In the teenager class we have been working alongside the adults this month working on our ground work and some of our throws. With the adults showing the kids what they can work up to, the teens have been working hard with loads of amazing throws and some outstanding ground skills. This month has been really fun with all the students in the teenager class most of them are taller than me and looking down on me when I am teaching them something but they are a great group to teach and I look forward to teaching them some new arm locks and leg locks next month.
To finish off this report I would like to welcome everyone back to the dojo and keep up to date with everything on our website, for any news or events that are going on in the year.
Next month in the junior class we will be working on arm locks and leg locks from kicks and from the ground. In the infant class we will be starting to learn some throws and take downs from the floor.
Please remember to bring in your children’s progress card to every lesson, if you have lost the card or can’t find it then ask me and you can buy a new one for £1.00 but we will be unable to backdate previous weeks/months stamps.
Please visit our website www.ishinryu.com as much as possible as I submit reports every month about the students training during the previous month. This is a great opportunity to see if you have been mentioned or appear in a photo.
We also have the new calendar page where you can have a look at upcoming events so you can plan ahead. You can also leave feedback on each of the reports or comment on your son/daughters club and share them to your Facebook pages.
If you have any questions or you are unsure of anything, please catch me at the club where I will be happy to help!
If you are on Facebook, please can you send me and Kevin Pell a friend request so if we need to pass on information quickly I can contact you, and when the reports go up I can share it to your Facebook page so you get it straight away.
