Christmas student of the month goes to Jayden Young in the infant class, Amber Jackson in the junior class and Alex Fry – Dontas in the teenager class. All three students have shown great progress within Ishin Ryu and continue to work hard and dedicate themselves to their training.
I would also like to say a big well done to everyone this year everyone has worked so hard and I am so proud to teach such amazing students. Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing who the first student of the month will be in 2016.
ITS CHRISTMAS!!! This month has been the countdown to Christmas with all the kids getting excited for the holidays; we thought it would be nice to treat the kids for all the hard work they put in to their training. So this month has been fun and games with the last lesson of the year being all games and sweetie week.
All three classes have been looking forward to this week for 12 months, and I love this time of the year playing loads of games and feeling all festive. I started off the month with loads of grappling and throws putting them all in to Christmas games like stuck in the chimney, Christmas corners and loads more, with all the kids still learning and having fun with their Ju Jitsu as it was getting closer to the last lesson of the year.
Before the last lesson of the year we had one more important event – the teenager’s gradings. With the teens training alongside the adults they have been working so hard trying to show me that they are as good as the adults, even with most of them looking like adults. I have to say they made me so proud to be their teacher. The grading was amazing from start to finish I didn’t want it to end.
I couldn’t take my eyes of them; from white belt all the way up to blue they didn’t show signs of stopping. I am very proud to say that everyone who underwent the grading passed with flying colours. I would also like to say a big well done to Zac Kaufman who double graded from yellow belt to green. He will tell you it was a tough grading and I don’t think he has ever done so many press ups and burpees ever.
Once the teenager’s gradings were out of the way it was time to have fun with the last lesson of the year, with all three classes playing games like dodge ball, super sumo, bull dog and loads more. All the kids were having so much fun and getting tired I told all the kids to sit down and get ready for the last game. Me and Sensei Andy Tierney split the classes up in to three groups with the teenager class having a helping hand from the adult class.
Once all three teams were ready we then got their team captain’s out the front and said freeze. Once we said the rules the kids had to turn their captain in to a snowman, and it was funny to watch only using toilet paper.
I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and I hope everyone has a happy New Year.
I look forward to seeing everyone back on Tuesday 5th January 2016.
When we come back in the New Year we will be starting on grappling from stand up and working on all kinds of take downs and throws.
