This month I would like to start by saying a big well done to Eren Bektas from the infant class for becoming this month’s student of the month. Eren has been working so hard and has been training with us for 6 months now. Eren has made loads of friends in the class and try’s his hardest in all parts of his Ju Jitsu.
Also this month in the junior class I would like to say a big well done to Kane Blake for his hard work to training and working so hard on his front roll and for never giving up. Kane has found some of the moves a little bit tricky but that never stops him from trying and putting in his all.
Well done to our student of the months keep up the hard work everyone and you could be next.
This month the Borehamwood dojo has been working hard on striking and blocking. Learning how to throw a punch but also how to block the strike and to throw them or lock them up. This has been so much fun for both classes and we have had the punch bags out to get use to hitting something that does not mind getting hurt. I would use William Frostier but he is training for his orange belt and also his exams.
The infant class have been so good this month learning some new moves and getting the hang of punching and kicking. This is sometimes hard making sure you punch or kick with the right leg or arm, but all the students have been really good and I haven’t had to pick anyone up on it.
During the middle of the month we have had letters going out for the children’s grappling championships and we want as many children going in for this to bring home the gold for the Borehamwood dojo. So we have been also getting ready with loads of stand up and kneeing grappling to get everyone who wants to enter ready.
With some amazing throws from the kids they have been learning to sweep the leg to get them down to the floor and hold them down as quickly as possible. To finish off the lessons we have been mixing up the games and fitness working on a lot of running and burpees with loads of stuck in the mud and 5 or 10 burpees trying to catch some of the kids is like rocky trying to catch that chicken.
The junior class have been also doing the same as the infant class but we have been working more on strangles and locks to end the fight quicker and to get the submission. Everyone in the class really enjoys the strangles with them trying them on me to see what colour red they can turn me. Also this month I would like to well come Oliver Farran to the junior class he has moved from the Bushey Friday class and has been welcomed nicely to the class at the same time of joining the class we also had one of our infant’s Abigale Jacobs move up from the infant class to our junior class and they both have made friends and are doing really well in the class.
The take down we have been teaching the kids and have really got to grips with is the dropping body drop with this throw been really fast and a lovely way to get someone to the floor all the kids have been showing some amazing throws.
I am looking forward to so many of the infants and juniors taking part in the championships as I know they do so well and so many of them come back with medals. This year is going to be the best one to date and I can’t wait.
