To start this month’s report off I would like to say a big well done to our student of the month for the infant and junior class. Throughout the month the students get to wear a very special belt with student of the month on it this belt is black and gold to stand out from every other belt. With wearing this belt you get to stand at the front of the dojo with the sensei pick games and loads more. All the kids want to be student of the month and it is very hard for the sensei to pick a student when everyone in the class works so hard, so when we give out this award you know they have worked hard to become it.
In the infant class student of the month has gone to Jayden Young. Jayden has been working really hard and has shown a big improvement in his training. I would also like to say a big well done to Michael Reilly in the junior class for working so hard and always helping others in the class.
I am so proud of everyone I teach and everyone works so hard it gets harder and harder to find a student of the month as everyone works so hard. Keep it up and I look forward to seeing who will be next months.
This month the Borehamwood Jiu Jitsu club has been working really hard with all aspects of Ju Jitsu, from breakfalls and fitness to throwing and hold downs. This is the best thing about Jiu Jitsu that every lesson will take you down a different road and the kids love it as they don’t know what is going to happen.
For all classes we have been teaching the basic falls with side breakfalls and rolling breakfalls this is used a lot when we take our partner down to the floor. The infants are learning a lot of rolling breakfalls boosting the children’s confidence in them self’s and also self believe. It is amazing to watch how far they come in a month; we make sure that all the moves are made fun so the kids don’t lose interest in their Jiu Jitsu.
The juniors have been working more on their back breakfall and front breakfalls as it is two of the hardest breakfalls to get to grips with. This again takes a lot of self-confidence and control to throw yourself on the floor. This is always practiced in every lesson as part of the warm up as this get the student all ready for the lesson ahead.
This month has been grading month for the Borehamwood Jiu Jitsu club. The Hertswood centre has been buzzing with loads of excited students and parents from the grading and presentations. The infant class had an amazing grading working on escapes from ground holds and front strangles. The kids love the ground work as it gives them the opportunity to roll around on the floor and try pinning each other to the ground.
The class have worked so well and so proud of all of them they try their hardest each week and you can tell they have learned something as they are using the moves more in grappling and trying fight back instead of just lying there.
The juniors have been doing something a little bit different to the infant class they have been learning defence’s agent someone pushing them in to a wall or holding them up to a wall. This has been their grading work and wow have they enjoyed this. The class have loved every moment pushing and slamming each other in to the walls “ fingers crossed the sports centre doesn’t fall down” the senior grades remember doing this once before but everyone that is in the class has never done this kind of training before.
All in all a good month for the kids classes with very happy students passing their grading and getting new belts and certificates and also nice to talk to the parents about how well their children are doing and what they are getting up to.
The teenager class have also graded this month unlike the children the teenager’s grade twice a year same as the adults. So for the past 5 months they have been working hard alongside the adults to get ready for their grading, and with the adults working with the teens they done an outstanding grading. All the teenagers from white belt all the way to purple belt done outstanding the adults pushed the teenagers and helped them with the grappling and fitness side and it is safe to say we have some real talent in the Borehamwood dojo.
Now that the grading’s are out of the way please make sure you keep a hold of your licenses – I still need these so that I can get it stamped up for their grading .
Next month we will be working on some stand up grappling with some new throws and locks from random attacks.
With the summer holidays in full swing at the end of this month, lessons will still be on throughout the summer holidays. If you are going away have a lovely holiday and I look forward to seeing you when you get back plus hearing all about it.
