I would like to congratulate our Students of the Month for May; Max Maslenkov and Jamie McClafferty. They have both shown great commitment and have really got stuck into their training this month. Well done and keep up the good work. Also I would like to say a huge well done to everyone who entered the national championships. You did really well and I’m extremely proud of you all.
May as been an awesome month for the Borehamwood Dojo. During the month we have had the National Championships. The students have been building up to this for months and finally the day had come to show everyone what they are made of. In class we had been going over and over our grappling work to try and increase the children’s skills.
The infants have been working towards the championships by going over ground holds and throws. Amber Jackson has been training extremely hard for this. Every lesson she has been going over her major outer reap throw and dropping straight into a scarf hold. I can’t wait to see you compete at the end of the month!
The juniors have also been training for the championships. They have been focusing on their chokes and throws. This is so they can take their opponent down and get them to submit quickly. I think they are doing really well and everyone who is competing will do fantastic. The teenagers have been preparing for their next gradings. Not only are they learning their syllabus, they are practicing fitness and their throws, which are coming along really well.
Lastly the adults at Borehamwood have been training for their next gradings. Harvey Cousins has been in preparation for his Shodan Ho by going out for his six mile runs and then back in the dojo training hard. Sempai Sam Gladdy has also been training. After recently putting in his Shodan application he has been at training pushing himself to the max, trying to prepare himself for the hard task ahead of him. We have also had Lee Swain and Jake Rider turning up – they have just passed their first adult grading. I would like to say well done to the both of you.
Next month we will be training for the infants and juniors gradings. Also we are all wishing Sempai Tom the best of luck for his grading. We all want to see you in your new black belt and we can’t wait to call you SENSEI!
