August has been a really hot month for the Borehamwood adults. With the guys working hard the heat has not stopped them from putting 100% into their training.
This month we have seen a new face pop back into the dojo – Justin Slagel. Justin used to train with Ishin Ryu but had to stop due to other commitments, but like all Ishin Ryu students found his way back to the dojo and came back to have a play and see what he had been missing. I would like to welcome him back we have missed you and good to see you back on the mat.

This month we have been working hard on syllabus getting the guys up to speed with some technique training on their belts as it won’t be long before the adult gradings are here. With Nick, Jake and Lee working on blue belt, this is a lovely belt to work on as we are getting to know how to disarm someone who is threatening us with a knife or an edged weapon. Knife and gun work are some of the specialties that have made Ishin Ryu so well known in the martial arts world.

Also, this month to end most of the lessons we have been mixing it up with loads of grappling from the knees and stand up fighting. Getting the students use to throwing someone to the floor or trying to stop them from hitting you. Everyone has been working so hard and to finish off the end of the month we headed up to the local pub the Mops and Brooms at the top of the road to have a catch-up and show that even know we train hard we can also play hard as well.
