Congratulations to Marie Ardeleane (infant class) and Daniella Adebayo (Junior class) on receiving student of the month for November 2015. They have both worked hard over previous months. Well-done to the pair of you.
I would like to say a warm welcome to our new student Elizabeth Thornton, who is training in the infant class and settling in really well.
This month we had the children’s national gradings where they are tested on techniques that they have learned over the past three months. They are also tested on their break falling ability, fitness, fighting spirit and etiquette in class.
Both classes have been learning similar techniques; the infant class concentrated on getting their front and rear breakfalls better. They have also been tested on a defence from a kick and taking their partner to the ground, this is where their partner would initiate their rear breakfall.
The last technique they learnt was a defence from leg scissors (their partner would lock their legs around their back, they would have to break the hold, secure the leg and re-position themselves into side control) they all worked hard with these techniques. They were also tested on how well they cope with fitness.
The junior class have been learning similar techniques but going into further detail with a lot more control. Going over their basic hip throws, grappling, etiquette and fighting spirit. The higher the belt in the class the more exercise was required from the student.
The gradings were very successful with the children having good rest and recuperation after a hard evening! The following week was games and presentations; as a reward for working hard during their gradings they are provided with a lesson of games to finish of with being awarded their new belt and certificate. This is a special occasion for the children as they get to celebrate the success of moving up a belt and get a memorable picture of this day.
Next month we look forward to calming down in preparation for Christmas, when all clubs will be closed for two weeks.
Please visit our website www.ishinryu.com as much as possible as I submit reports every month about the students training during the previous month. This is a great opportunity to see if you have been mentioned or appear in a photo.
We also have the new calendar page where you can have a look at upcoming events so you can plan ahead. You can also leave feedback on each of the reports or comment on your son/daughters club and share them to your Facebook pages.
If you have any questions or you are unsure of anything, please catch me at the club where I will be happy to help!
If you are on Facebook, please can you send me and Kevin Pell a friend request so if we need to pass on information quickly I can contact you, and when the reports go up I can share it to your Facebook page so you get it straight away.
