A big well done to our two students of the months for May. In the infant class we have Alejandro Rodriguez. Alejandro has been working really hard and I can’t fault how hard he tries every lesson – he always helps others and always tells me he wants to get his black belt and teach. I am very proud to give him student of the month this month well done Alejandro keep it up.
In the junior class I would like to say a big well done to Harrison Travers. Harrison is one tough little boy working hard both in and out of lesson. His fitness and skill is on point each lesson and he will make a brilliant adult martial artist one day. It gets harder and harder each month to pick a student of the month because the Borehamwood class always work so hard.
This month all the classes have been working on, and getting ready for the children’s British championships. And what a day it was with loads of amazing fights and all the kids put 100% in to it. The training and the high level of Jiu Jitsu was amazing. I am so proud to be your teacher and have you all in my class.
The infant class have been getting ready by going over some basic throws and ways to get someone on the floor quick and fast. So the two throws we have been going for is a body drop and a leg sweep. Two lovely throws if you get them off balance and time it right. The kids have progressed so much it’s been amazing to see from the start of the month when some of the students could do it till now all of the class are throwing each over and not worrying about it.
Once we got the throw to a good level and everyone was happy we made it more fun and get the kids thinking and working by putting the throws in to games. The kids are pulling off so many good throws it is amazing to see them doing the moves with big smiles on their faces.
The junior class have been also working on loads of take downs and throws but mostly working on grappling and different locks and strangles from the ground. One of the moves the students love doing is an arm bar and also a chock from behind. The kids love doing grappling and putting the stand-up put where they have to throw them to the ground makes it harder for the ones that find it easy to grapple on the ground.
I have to say a big well done to all the kids that took part in the grappling competition with the Borehamwood dojo coming home with loads of gold and silver medals. Please see below a list of all the winners.
