First off I would like to say a big well done to Benjamin Kalen in the infant class and Kory Kutner in the junior class. Benjamin has been a star student in the class helping the younger students in the class and also being my helper to show moves. Benjamin is a lovely boy and puts other people first. Well done Benjamin keep up the good work.
In the junior class Kory Kutner has been working so hard on his grading moves and fitness. Kory has been helping his younger brother who is in the infant lesson and it shows as Eren has improved so much in his ground work and moving around.
This month has been the build up to the children’s first grading of the year, and what a great it was. With both infant and junior classes working on grappling and ground work this grading was quite hard for all the kids. With using their body a lot to move around and having someone else on top of them they got a lot of exercise in the lessons. Both infant and junior classes learnt the basic understanding of what happens on the ground and if someone was one you some ways to move around on the floor.
Once the basic moves were learnt we practiced them at the beginning of every lesson with the breakfalls, and now come a part of the warmup. With the grading on the 8th March all the kids were getting a bit nervous and also worrying about what they will be doing, all I said was just treat it was a normal lesson. And with that we started the lesson as normal and everyone forgot it was a grading. With loads of fitness and running around the infant class had so much fun they didn’t want to stop.
With Mark Howell helping out he had all the kids down one end asking them questions and getting them in to pairs for grappling I took a pair at a time to get them showing me some moves and asking them some more questions. I am so proud of this class and I could not fault any of them they all worked so hard.
The junior class worked just as hard if not even harder with them showing me the moves why they grappled, they didn’t have any rest time. With each round of grappling me got the class doing different exercise with the high belts doing 30 press ups and the low belts doing 15 all the students done an outstanding job. Even down to the history and questions I could not fault them at all.
With both classes passing with flying colours when it come to the presentation day all the parents and myself were so proud of how well they all did.
With all the students’ mums and dads at the dojo waiting to see their little ninjas with their new belts I took the time to tell the parents how proud I was of the class and how well they are all doing. It is an honour to teach such amazing students and the children we teach are the best.
This month for the teenager class has been a fun one with all the guys and girls learning their new belts ready for the June grading’s we have also been putting are finger on the grappling pause having rounds of stand up and kneeling grappling testing the children with different partners ready for the May championships in Norfolk.
I can see so many students already getting set on going for gold I can’t wait to see who will come out with what. One student that has been working hard has been Uri First – he is 3 times national champion looking to keep the gold and become 4 times British national champion.
With the Easter Holidays on its way I just like to wish everyone a happy Easter.
