Happy infant class with big smiles

Happy infant class with big smiles

I would like to kick start this month off by saying a big well done to Casey Homans in the infant class and Amelie Wilkinson in the junior class on becoming June’s student of the month. Casey has been working so hard in every lesson and is a super student to have. He is always at class and works really hard, and is always willing to work with everyone.

Amelie has shown amazing skills in the class so much so that she comes down before her lesson to help out with the infant class. She is a lovely student to have in the dojo and I she is one amazing martial artist. To finish I have to say a big well done to both of our student of the months well done keep it up.

This month the Borehamwood children have been learning loads of new locks and holds from standing and kneeling, not just using this in grappling but also from someone punching them or grabbing them, this is teaching the children how to block an attack and use that block to get a good lock or throw to take down the attacker.

Also this month we have been practising the correct way to do press ups, sit ups and burpees. With the help from mums and dads at home all the class have improved 100% in their fitness doing the exercises better than most adult’s showing their mums and dads how it should be done. One student that has been working so hard on his press ups has been Zac Salmi, the control of his press ups he can get his nose to touch the floor and slowly go back up without putting his knees on the floor.

The junior class have been training on some wall techniques, locks from standing and keeling grappling. Getting them ready for next month’s grading, all the students have been enjoying this learning to hit with lefts and rights but also how to block a punch and how to hit back. With all of the class enjoying the training and learning new the new moves we have also been using different grabs to lock each other up and throw them to the ground.

The teenager class have been working on their next grading witch will be in July we have all colour grades from white belt all the way up to brown belt. The purple belts going to brown belt have been working on holds from over and under the arms and also some new throws. The class has always been a good class to teach and all the students get along really well. I am so proud of them all and I look forward to seeing all their hard work put in to their grading.

To finish off the month at the end of each lesson we do some grappling from standing kneeling and also some back to back. The kids love grappling and all of them are learning to move around on the floor more and not just lay on the floor and wait for someone to get them in to a hold. I have been so pleased with the progress that all the kids have made with their grappling I cannot wait for next year’s grappling competition.

I am so proud of the Borehamwood class they have been amazing to teach and put in 100% in every lesson. The parents are so supportive of the class and I would like to thank all of them as well. Without you I wouldn’t have a brilliant class to teach.

I would like to say a big thank you as well to Mark Howell each week he takes time out to come and help the Borehamwood club every morning, Mark has done this for years and years and it is an honour to have him by my side helping me out. He works so well with the kids and he get along well with all the mums and dads without him at the dojo I don’t know what I would do. Thank you Mark OSU!

Please remember that the grading for the kids will be on Saturday 9th July 2016. All admin has to be handed in before then so we know if your child will be grading

Next month is the children’s grading. Please make sure you bring loads of water and true Ishin Ryu fighting spirit. I don’t need to wish you luck as you all have been working hard and your training is all you need.
