On Saturday 2nd July 2016, Ishin Ryu Jiu Jitsu took part in the Borehamwood Families Day held at Meadow Park. With the sun beaming my family and I travelled down to Borehamwood to set up for the event. First port of call was to see Sensei Tom Garvin, who was still teaching the very busy Borehamwood Saturday classes held at the Hertsmere Leisure Centre.
We arrived in good time to collect mats and equipment ready to be carried to Meadow Park which was only walking distance from the club. With a helping hand from the adult students we started setting our display area up with gazebo, display stands and any literature that we could hand out to the public. We had bouncy castles, food and drink stalls, bubble stands, and a display area with a stage.
With everything setup and the show open to the general public we started seeing a good turnout from the local community.
During the day all students stepped onto the mat and gave demonstrations of their Jiu Jitsu skills. Sensei Tom Garvin gave some fantastic instructional lesson to potential new students trying their hand at Jiu Jitsu.
Whilst we were there it was a good time for me to teach some of the teenage and junior students that came along to help out with their next belts. The day was fantastic with many parents asking questions and when they can bring their children along for their FREE TASTER SESSION.
I would personally like to thank the following people who had taking time out of their weekend to come along and help out. As always your help is greatly appreciated.
- Sensei Tom Garvin
- Sensei Sam Gladdy
- Sempai Patrick Davis
