On the 28th of June 2014 Borehamwood held their yearly families day in Meadow Park. This year it was wet and windy but this did not stop the Ishin Ryu students turning out on mass to support the community. Unfortunately as soon as we set down the mats it started to rain but but everyone still had smiles on their faces and were happy to be there. With the rain coming down hard all the students and adults picked up some balloons and leaflets and started to walk around the fair looking at the amazing stands and handing out balloons to the children.
Once the rain stopped we jumped on it and put down the mats and started to do some taster lessons and also some demonstrations. We started off with some of the junior students Harrison Green and Taylor Sheehan who did an amazing demonstration with some hard hitting throws which got loads of people looking and gasping. The action kept coming with brother and sister Justus and Nabrissa Badu, showing an outstanding demonstration of children’s self-defence and also girl’s self-defence. Everyone had great fun watching the students in action. We then had some of the adults up on the mat going over some throws and moves from different belts in our syllabus, the adults in the audience really enjoyed the show from the adults from seeing the children to adult’s shows amazing skills.
Once all the demonstrations had finished we invited children and adults on the mat with some of our students. Sensei Del showed some some basic holds and breakfalls and let the audience them throw him around – all the kids had so much fun!
I would like to finish by saying a big thank you to everyone that turned up to support Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu even with the rain and dark sky’s we still had a good time.
