The Countdown begins!! This month is the last before the National Adult gradings at the Honbu Dojo in Norfolk. All the adults have been hitting the mat hard practising and preparing them self’s for their last grading of the year.

The start of the month we have been working on syllabus with the white belts going to yellow working on baton and back strangles and working on little bits they fill rusty on. Jake Rider and Lee Swain have been working really well. Coming up together from red belts they are a good team dumping each other in to the mat it is amazing to watch and remind you why Ishin Ryu is the best place to train.

Simon Hoyles and Matthew Buckner have been working on the Kubaton and strangles from behind and have come on leaps and bounds this month, even taking a trip up to Honbu to get some extra training in with Soke and the Yudansha before the grading. I am looking forward to seeing all four of them in nice new shiny Yellow belts this time next month.

Olli Harviek has been working with the senior grades going over blue belt all the way down to white making sure that all his techniques are up to scratch. He has been working so hard and is taking his training to a new level, I think he has found out once you get past green belt you can’t sit back and relax. It gets harder and you hit the floor faster.

Olli has also been helping Nick Rowan with his green belt. Working on dropping throws and defences to kicks to the head, Nick is doing really well and picking things up quickly.

Sempai Sam and the senior grades have been mixing in with the lower grades helping them with different parts of their own belts with different throws and locks it has been an eye opener with the high belts having to teach and break down moves and show someone that doesn’t know what they are doing.
