Adult students after the first lesson back

Adult students after the first lesson back

This month I would like to welcome you all back training and what a month it has been. With the first lesson back in the new year a nice easy one, working off the turkey and chocolate everyone had a brilliant time working on some grappling from the floor throws and fitness it was a mix of everything to get the body back in to training after two weeks off.  I have to say that everyone put 100% in and done an outstanding job true Ishin Ryu spirt in the dojo everyone worked hard.

Also this month was the 26th year of Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu and every year we have a celebration dinner to mark the birth of Ishin Ryu and this year fell on the exact date of the first dojo in Borehamwood on the 9th January 1990. This was a black tie event with everyone from around the world attending, the dinner started off with Soke Kevin Pell the head and chef instructor welcoming everyone with sell out seats. This event isn’t just for the adult students this is for everyone in the club; we had younger students and also parents of younger students.

Within the clubs history Ishin Ryu does a lot of charity work and last year and this year our charity is Hounds for Heros, over the year all the clubs and all the students try and raise as much money for this charity and at the dinner we give a check over to the charity and this year we handed over £8,000 for them, and we hope to double the amount by next year.

Also at the dinner Soke had some very special awards to hand out, Sempai Sam Gladdy got awarded with one of Sokes very own Katana ready for Sempai Sam’s upcoming black belt in May this year. Also Sensei Del got awarded with his 3rd Dan within Ishin Ryu, Sensei Andy Herbert got awarded with his 4th Dan and Sensei Trevor got awarded his 5th Dan. Ishin Ryu prides itself on being the best and getting a black belt within Ishin Ryu means you have worked for it, ask any of the black belts and they will tell you what they had to do.
