This month I would like to say a big well come to Marcel Fillips who has started and is really enjoying himself getting fitter and learning at the same time. I would also like to welcome back to the dojo Alex Dacre. Alex started back in 2011 and due to work had to stop but missing Ishin Ryu and loving Ju Jitsu has come back and has picked off where he left. It is amazing to have you both in the dojo and to teach and train with you it is my honour.
The Borehamwood dojo have been mixing it up this month with some technique work, mat conditioning and grappling work having all the class grappling and working with each other it gives the class a good strong bound, and what better way to get to know someone than having them on top of you trying to lock your arm or stick a finger up your nose.
Also this month the senior grades and Yudansha travelled up to the Honbu dojo in Caston for the first ATW (Advanced Training Wing) of the year. This day gets all the brown belts and black belts all together to go over any questions about our Ju Jitsu and to make sure everyone is doing the same thing and we are keeping our standards at the right level of perfection.
Soke covered everything from a Kit inspection the does and do not’s in the dojo and to make sure that all the students are doing the same. To finish off the day we all went out for dinner as we do after every Training day. “ we train together we eat together”
Also this month we have been working on everyone’s syllabus ready for the summer grading’s, having everyone training hard on weapon work and throws. The yellow belts going to orange have been perfecting the side handle baton and the basic half shoulder throw.
Also the adults have been mixing in with the teenager’s as most of them are as big as the adults. This has been working well having them working alongside each other I have seen a big improvement in the teenager’s attitude and focus on their training.
To finish off this month we had an emergency first aid course held at the Honbu dojo with students from white belt up to Soke himself attending, we also had some of the teenagers and their mums and dads on the course as this is a very interesting course and is a requirement to grade from purple belt upwards. Everyone learned so much and with some CPR training and learning to bandage someone up. This course is every 3 years so the next course will be 2019.
This month has been an outstanding month and the dojo spirt has been amazing. I would like to take this time to thank everyone for training hard and keep it up. The hardest part of training is walking in to the dojo.
Please remember that all the dates are going up on the website and please keep a look out and add to your calendar. Already we have loads of events coming up and we want to know as soon as possible who can go so the Yudansha can sort out all the admin for Soke. As we don’t want to leave any one out or forget to pick someone up. Admin is very important please make sure you are up to date on payments and everything is up to date.
Please visit our website www.ishinryu.com as much as possible as I submit reports every month about the students training during the previous month. This is a great opportunity to see if you have been mentioned or appear in a photo.
We also have the new calendar page where you can have a look at upcoming events so you can plan ahead. You can also leave feedback on each of the reports or comment on your son/daughters club and share them to your Facebook pages.
If you have any questions or you are unsure of anything, please catch me at the club where I will be happy to help!
If you are on Facebook, please can you send me and Kevin Pell a friend request so if we need to pass on information quickly I can contact you, and when the reports go up I can share it to your Facebook page so you get it straight away…
