I would like to congratulate our student of the month for July, Barney Cunrow. He has shown great commitment to his training and has really got stuck in this month. Well done and keep up the good work. I would like to also say a warm welcome to James Ashby who has joined us this month. I hope you enjoy training with us.
This month at the Aldenham Ju Jitsu Club we held our first ever gradings for our infant class. I was so proud to see my students do so well. We started off with a basic warm up and then moved into breakfalls. Following this we moved straight into our techniques which were different types of shoulder arm locks.
This proved to be a breeze for the class. Lastly we moved from our techniques to fitness and grappling. By this time the class were looking fairly tired. But they were all determined not to give up. After countless rounds of grappling and burpees the class were very happy to hear that they had passed. Well done to you all it was an amazing grading and you should all be proud.
The junior class performed one of the best gradings I have ever seen. We started off with a warm up, which in itself was hard to complete. Then we moved to our breakfalls. Following this we moved on to our techniques.
The class started off on the ground showing me scarfhold, shoulder hold and side four quarters. Which no one had a problem with, we then went on to palm heel strikes. I must say Thomas Ashby really showed so much effort during the palm heel strikes. It was incredible to watch. Lastly we moved onto fitness and grappling.
This is where the class got pushed they kept going and going and going. I was really impressed with them. By the end everyone was hot, sweaty and exhausted but the smiles on their faces said it all. They were happy it was over. I don’t doubt for one second that they all would have kept going if they had to. And that is what makes exceptional students. Well done everyone.
This month we have also been going over some new techniques. Defence against kicks to the head. The class loved this. Tye and Reece where training really hard and putting 100% effort in. Well done boys and keep up the good work.
Next month we will be going over some old syllabus just so we don’t get rusty on previous work. This is so we can keep techniques we haven’t done for a while fresh in the mind.
As it is that time of the year again, I know most of you will jet setting off and sitting in the sun all day. If you are going away I hope you have an amazing time and I will see you upon your return.
