This year already has flown past with many events gone and many more to come. This month was no different when Kevin Pell Sensei was presented with the Grand Master of the year 2015, having been nominated by Sensei Zvonko Tubic Tuba and presented by Ernesto Hoost, four times K1 world champion. Kevin Pell Sensei and Sam gladly Sempai travelled to Split (Croatia) to receive this prestigious award and was kindly looked after by all the Croatian team.
Many congratulations to Tom Garvin Sensei, Sam Gladdy Sempai and Jack O’Brien Sempai on passing their 3rd Kyu grading in Toyama Ryu Iai Batto Do, with many months of training and the persistent travel it’s great to see it’s paid off.
To say this month was already quite busy we also started our clean Eating 30 day challenge which saw the adult students from Honbu and Aldenham participate; whether we were looking to lose weight, improve sports performance or just generally feel great, this challenge is a 30 day detox from all grains, sugars, dairy products and legumes, it will allow our body to reset to its natural state and hopefully help us develop a healthier relationship with food. Next month we will find out who has stuck to do this strict diet and who has folded… remember guys it’s a charity!
I would like to welcome along to the class Andy Geale and Sam Clements. Andy started after watching his son train on a Wednesday evening and decided he would like to be a part of this club. Andy is fitting in really well and is picking up on all the little basics. Sam trained with as many years ago and has decided to come back and give it a whirl. Good effort guys keep trying hard!
At the Aldenham dojo all students concentrated on yellow belts syllabus, after finishing white belt the previous month it was time to start moving forward, which gave the novice white belts a whole month learning a new belt. With the combination of fitness, throwing techniques, casualty drags and lots of hard training, young Sarah Shaw has turned up twice a week to give her max.
This month we also had the auction of Renshi Mark Hayden-Smiths personal belongings, which meant a great deal too many students – let’s hope we raise an incredible amount of money to be passed on to his loved ones. Renshi Mark is sadly missed but will never be forgotten! RIP
Next month Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu is proud to announce the 14th Annual International Martial Arts Seminar is to be held on the 3rd and 4th of October 2015 at the Breckland Leisure Centre, Croxton Road, Thetford, Norfolk IP24 1JD.
At this year’s “Shochu Geiko” (Summer Training Camp) we have instructors from England, Portugal and Spain teaching in a variety of martial arts which will be conducted over two days, and is open to all Martial Artists aged 13 years and above irrespective of style and grade.
Still to come we have the National adults gradings in December and on 9 January 2016 next year we have the 26th anniversary dinner. Please start getting as many people as possible to attend; this will be another fantastic evening that if you don’t attend you will surely miss out.
Please visit our website www.ishinryu.com as much as possible as I submit reports every month about the students training during the previous month. This is a great opportunity to see if you have been mentioned or appear in a photo.
We also have the new calendar page where you can have a look at upcoming events so you can plan ahead. You can also leave feedback on each of the reports or comment on your son/daughters club and share them to your Facebook pages.
If you have any questions or you are unsure of anything, please catch me at the club where I will be happy to help!
If you are on Facebook, please can you send me and Kevin Pell a friend request so if we need to pass on information quickly I can contact you, and when the reports go up I can share it to your Facebook page so you get it straight away…
