I would like to welcome Alasdair Coulter and Lamia Soyel along to Aldenham Ju Jitsu Club. Alasdair & Lamia trained under Sensei Tom Garvin at Potters Bar and have made a great start to their adult career.

This month has been very similar to other months and everyone getting ready for gradings in December. The majority of the class train twice a week, Aldenham and Borehamwood on a Tuesday evening under Sensei Tom Garvin. The students in Hertfordshire are bonding very well and committing themselves to regular training.

This month all adult students attended the annual Shochu Geiko, which had martial artists from around the globe travel to this prestigious event to teach students their art. Everyone had a fantastic time learning some new skills that hopefully they will be able to adapt and use within their schools. We had the charity events on the Sunday consisting of: knockdown, Judo, Escrima and sport Nunchaku. To enter would cost the student £5 with all money raised going to our charity “Hounds for Heroes”

Everyone had a fantastic time with a few students coming away with a few injuries. Well done to Jake Rider for having such good spirit after breaking his collarbone and ripping the tendons around his shoulder. “Well-done” also to Lee Swain who carried on despite having broke a few toes in his foot – not quite as spectacular as a broken collarbone but still a good effort.

New students Andy Geale and Sam Clements are settling in really well and starting to get to grips with their basic drills.

At the beginning of the month adult students from the club undertook a 30-day clean eating challenge giving their body a reset by eradicating all the sugars that are in everyday foods, NO dairy, wheat’s, sugars, alcohol (ouch) basically anything that is processed and in a packet.

I personally took this challenge on and found it very hard but was overwhelmed with the transformations that I saw in my body and in others – for those of you that completed this “Well-done,” and a big thank you to Sensei Sheila, Sensei Andy, Jessica Bacon & Tim Hickford from the Saxon Crossfit Gym at Wymondham helping us all through this challenge…

We have the Adult gradings fast approaching in December, can everyone please make sure that they have all equipment and admin ready in advance for the grading, keep up the good work!!

Please visit our website www.ishinryu.com as much as possible as I submit reports every month about the students training during the previous month. This is a great opportunity to see if you have been mentioned or appear in a photo.

We also have the new calendar page where you can have a look at upcoming events so you can plan ahead. You can also leave feedback on each of the reports or comment on your son/daughters club and share them to your Facebook pages.

If you have any questions or you are unsure of anything, please catch me at the club where I will be happy to help!

If you are on Facebook, please can you send me and Soke (look for Kevin Pell) a friend request so if we need to pass on information quickly I can contact you, and when the reports go up I can share it to your Facebook page so you get it straight away.

The Anniversary dinner is fast approaching and will be on Saturday, 9th January 2016. This is one of the highlights of the year when all students get together to celebrate what will be 26 years of Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu, so please start thinking about your tickets now and who you will be bringing along to celebrate this special time, whether it be your partner, friends or family. Tickets will be available soon; don’t leave it to the last minute, last year we had to turn some away…

A great months training as always, and appreciate it all the more as I am only able to train one day a week.
Bestwishes to all grading in December, the only barrier to your success is the one you create yourself! Osu!
