CONGRATULATIONS to Sensei Sam Gladdy, successfully passing his Shodan (Black belt) grading on Monday 30th May 2016. Sensei Sam had physically and mentally prepared himself leading up to his grading for nearly two years. His grading, which was over two days, tested him in every way possible.
Allowing only one black belt candidate to be tested at a time he would be tested on the complete syllabus, his physical endurance, his leadership skills and his will to never give up no matter how bad he felt. Being alongside him and being one of the other black belts within his grading I know how he felt.
Sensei Sam pushed himself to the absolute edge making sure there was no stone unturned. Congratulations again Sensei Sam, very honoured to have you by our sides. Osu!
During the month we had A.T.W (Advance training Wing) which was taken by Sensei Trevor, going over throws and syllabus. Thank you for making it a fabulous day whilst Soke was unable to attend due to ill health.
Prior to Sensei Sam’s grading we had the Children’s Championships on Sunday 22nd May 2016 which, was another very successful day and having some new British champions in their weight category. Thank you to all that helped out and made this day special.
Students at Aldenham have been training twice a week, studying their new and previous belts in preparation for the adult national gradings on Saturday 25th June 2016. Please ensure that you had your grading application in as soon as possible so all the relevant admin can be taken care of. If you have any concerns, please see the Sensei’s or myself. Please make sure you have your uniform in a good state of repair and badges and equipment are purchased before the grading.
Next month we have the Borehamwood Parade and the month after the Borehamwood family’s day. If you are unsure of dates, please visit the website and have a look at the calendar. Please note: all adults will be required on the family’s day to perform demonstrations.
Next month I look forward to reporting how the national gradings went and who was successful and who will need that little more training. Keep working hard everyone, Osu!
