The first lesson of the month saw a good combination of senior grades and lower belts on the mat. This was a great opportunity to pair everyone up and go over some yellow belt techniques. Simon Hoyles, who has been a busy man over the winter months taking care of trees, is now back into regular training and had some great help from Sempai Sam Gladdy. Nick Rowan, who would like to attempt a double grading in June has attended regular classes to get himself up to scratch. Great work Nick, well done.
Joseph George has been really pushing himself, but will have to take a little break so he can get maximum study time for his exams, good luck Joseph!
The following week we had a little practice at some bridging, where your partner lies across your belly, you would thrust up as high as possible for eight repetitions before swapping over and repeating for a total of four cycles each side, this really worked the core and gave good indication of how much effort was needed to move your partner whilst all their weight was across you. After finishing this we moved straight into belt groups to continue with Syllabus.
The week after, Amber Gill decided to come down for training whilst on Easter half term and catch up with everyone. Amber partnered up with Olli Harviek and got some great training in! Michael Yerrill-Asser was at training to get a little extra work before going away on a relaxing holiday. At the end of the month we had the club social, so we all caught up over an alcoholic beverage. Well done everyone, a great months training!
Next month we have Ishin Ryu’s British Championships being held in Thetford, Norfolk, and that will be a packed event, with challengers coming from all over the country to compete to be the champion in their weight category. Good luck to all the students entering from the Aldenham Ju Jitsu club!
Please remember, if you wish to enter, all entries must be handed in by Saturday 9th May 2015.
